Work started on House of Manufacturing, a meeting point for innovation

Trekker is the POM West Flanders, the provincial company that focuses on companies, technology and innovation. Jean de Bethune, POM chairman: “I am proud. We are going to link a technical school to knowledge centers and the business community on a campus where colleges and universities are active.”

The technology federation Agoria will soon also have a permanent home here. Jolyce Demeley, Agoria: “For Agoria, it will be a hub in which we make our expertise available to local companies. It really has to become a home for them, where they can go with all their questions about innovation and entrepreneurship.”

Technician

The Technicum will also be located on the same site, where 600 secondary students from the PTI can prepare for a job in the manufacturing industry. You can now virtually see what the building will look like. The work is that of the people of HITLab Howest. Tim Claeys, director of PTI: “It will be a building of 5,500 square meters where we have high-tech training rooms for the manufacturing and textile industry.”

The first lessons in the Technicum should start in the course of next school year, the center of the Manufacturing Industry will open in April 2024.
