Wopke Hoekstra no longer wants to wait for troublemakers within the EU: ‘That costs us hundreds of billions per year’

European Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra believes that the EU should opt for leading groups of ‘benevolent countries’, such as the Netherlands, much more often than now. This prevents member states such as Viktor Orbán’s Hungary from sabotaging crucial plans and reforms. The need is great, Hoekstra warns: “We do not have the luxury to wait any longer.”
