Women’s volleyball: Champions, Novara drops poker and sees the quarter-finals

Lavarini’s team slips their fourth victory in a row in Europe. Qualification is very close

Novara-Liberec 3-0 (25-12, 25-23, 25-13)

Igor Gorgonzola hits the fourth consecutive success in the Champions League and takes off in group C, where it remains the only team with full points (therefore very close to landing in the quarterfinals). Novara has to renounce Nika Daalderop and Sofia D’Odorico, both tested positive for the eve swab and in isolation, and leaves Fersino to rest, who accuses back fatigue during the warm-up phase. The Czech team loses after only three exchanges Anna Sotkovska, victim of an ankle injury in an attempt to block Karakurt. The first set opens with a substantial balance, broken by Herbots’ turn, which leads Igor to 10-5 which forces the visiting coach Galik to stop the game. Novara, however, is rampant with the batting lap of Washington, which favors a new set that pushes it up to 15-6. The set is in the hands of Lavarini’s team, which closes smoothly at 25-12, with 7 points from Karakurt. Game downhill even in the second part, despite some gifts from the blue, which allow the guests to stay in the wake (9-7; 12-11).

Exchange

Lavarini gets a little impatient and changes his diagonal, inserting Battistoni and Rosamaria, to give some rhythm to Igor’s game. Who accelerates with arrogance, stretching on 17-13 with the Brazilian opposite immediately in the game, and then again taking a dangerous break, which brings Liberec back into contact at 17-16. The final set is point to point but Igor wins, who closes 25-23 with two blazes of Washington. Lavarini confirms the Battistoni-Rosamaria diagonal (6 points in the final second) and Novara restarts with more attention, immediately digging an important groove (6-1) with the wall making the loud voice. The technician from Novara also enjoys doing some experiments, proposing Karakurt in place of Bosetti as a spiker receiving. Also chosen to take advantage of the vein of Rosamaria, who continues to beat strongly from place 2 (13-6). Space also for the young Costantini in an Igor sailing on the 16-8, to then go to close the accounts on the 25-13.
