Women’s Bundesliga: Turbine Potsdam also loses against TSG Hoffenheim

Status: 25.11.2022 9:35 p.m

Eighth game, seventh defeat, only one draw so far: Turbine Potsdam is still waiting for its first win of the season in the women’s Bundesliga after the game at TSG Hoffenheim.

At the start of the 8th matchday, the bottom team conceded a 1:3 (0:0) defeat against fourth-placed TSG Hoffenheim in front of 713 spectators at their home Karl Liebknecht Stadium.

After conceding goals from Katharina Naschenweng (49th minute), Ereleta Memeti (64th) and Melissa Kössler (65th), only Pauline Deutsch (73rd) scored for Potsdam. With just one point, the situation for the Brandenburg women in the table cellar is getting worse and worse.

Hoffenheim, on the other hand, consolidated their fourth place in the table with their fifth win of the season.

Hoffenheim hits aluminum twice

The match, which saw Turbine wearing orange armbands as they entered the stadium to celebrate World Day against Violence against Women, started with clear advantages for the visitors. Potsdam could thank goalkeeper Anna Wellmann that it was still 0-0 at the break. And if Wellmann didn’t hold up himself, Potsdam Aluminum helped. Like the shots by Chantal Hagel (32′) and Julia Hickelsberger-Füller (39′).

In the second half, Hoffenheim were able to convert their clear superiority into goals. After a quick pass, Naschenweng took aim from the edge of the penalty area and gave Wellmann no chance with her shot into the far corner.

Turbine goalkeeper Wellmann was later powerless twice within just sixty seconds. First Memeti hit from close range, then ex-Potsdamerin Kössler hit lying down. The 1: 3 by Pauline Deutsch was no longer a reason for Turbine Potsdam to celebrate.
