The women from FC Carl Zeiss Jena just missed a surprise against the newly baked Doublegewinner Bayern Munich. Despite the big fight, the Thuringians had to give up late.
Munich’s Lea Schüller (11) on the ball
The footballers of FC Carl Zeiss Jena lost their last home game of the Bundesliga season against champions and cup winners FC Bayern Munich with 0-1 (0-0).
Jena holds against it for a long time – Ihlenburg meets Alu
The Thuringian women who struggled up to the end were able to prevent a goal of the dominant favorite for a long time. It was only in the 88th minute that Michelle Ulbrich scored the winning goal in front of 2,729 spectators. Jena was inferior to the league and Champions League participant, who previously had to accept only one defeat in the league, but was unlucky in the 74th minute in a slatted hit by Toma Ihlenburg.
The encounter was only of statistical importance. Munich had already won the championship and the cup before the guest performance in Thuringia. The FCC had been sure to stay in the league for several weeks.
Trio said goodbye
It was also an evening of farewell for Jena, as players deserved in Laura Kiontke, Nicole Woldmann and Luca Birkholz. The Thuringians will play their last league game next Sunday (2 p.m. in the live ticker) at TSG Hoffenheim.
