It was a different celebration. On March 8, 15 Argentine cookand they honored Women’s Day in the best way: displaying their enormous talent and potential in a collaborative menu. In addition, they had the presence of 15 female figures from the world of wine and there was room for a conversation and networking table for entrepreneurs. On a date that reminds those who lost their lives fighting for their rights and marks the importance of continuing to work for equality, the synergy of these referents is a great milestone of visibility.

A female footprint

The invitation was in The framework frame, led by chef Mendoza Flavia Amad. It was its first special edition, which is characterized by wanting to illuminate women referents of Argentine gastronomy To share experiences, concepts, creation and passion. Founded by Amad and also by Ana Lovaglio and Picky Curtois, this project was born from the desire to break stereotypes in a culinary world historically dominated by men. The emergence has to do with Amad’s personal experience, who when returning to Mendoza after living in the United States met an unequal panorama, with very few women highlighted in the kitchen, and decided to do something about it.

Today the cycle is a space in which Chefs, Sommelier and winemakers They meet to share their art, passion and stories, and where each date is a tribute to female talent. Each cook who participates contributes its own vision, creating a space for learning and growth, and through these collaborations it is sought to raise local gastronomy and inspire future generations that dream of a place in this industry. During 2023 and 2024, he made seven editions in which 14 cooks were summoned throughout the country. They are the same ones that met again on this special occasion.

“More than a meal, I wanted this to be a meeting with a soul, a space where we can celebrate who we are and what we build together. It is an honor to do so in Susana Balbo, a winery that represents the vision and female leadership in the industry. Susana Balbo, the first winemaker in Argentina, has been a lighthouse of inspiration for many women, ”says the host chef. Likewise, the meeting is accompanied by Ana Lovaglio, daughter of Susana and marketing director and founder of the hospitality and gastronomy area of ​​the winery. “I like to think of these encounters as a way to honor the path of so many women in gastronomy and wine, but also to inspire us. The idea is that, at the end of the night, we not only take flavors, but also the certainty that we are leaving a mark, ”adds Amad.

Special sensitivity

The other invited chefs arrived from different parts of the country. From Buenos Aires there was Christina Sunae, Patricia Ramos and Sol Peretti, Florencia Rodríguez arrived from Tilcara, Florencia Lafalla de Bariloche, Paula Chiaradía de Trevelin, and Ailín Rosas, Cerez Pawlak, Ginella Mazzocca, Josefina Diana, Maira Bitar, Marian premises from Mendoza. Each one, next to Amad, offered a main course proposal from a large office in which it was possible to interact with the diners. The menu was accompanied by wines from different regions of Argentina, historical bottles of Susana Balbo and labels of some of the best wineries in the country. As a color note, the day was also musicalized by a selection of hits of different genres and times sung by women.

At the end of the event, a high -end wines auction and unique lots were held for the benefit of the Small steps. It was driven by Marcela Kloosterboerambassador of the organization, and consisted of three lots: “Large bottles of great wineries, selected by great women”; “Argentine wines from north to south with female soul” and “Wines of women who changed paradigms.”

These types of events allow to make visible that there is a new generation of women that is transforming Argentine cuisine. “They do it with a more authentic look, with more identity and with the conviction that the kitchen does not have to be a place of competition, but of community. Personally, I believe in the power of the network, in the importance of sharing, learning and growing together, ”Amad brand.

If you have to mark what women contribute to gastronomy, far beyond technique or knowledge, the chef distinguishes sensitivity, intuition and a very genuine way of transmitting emotions through food. “Our kitchen is not just a sum of ingredients, it is a language, a story, a way of caring and communicating,” he says. It also highlights the ability to adapt and reinvent itself without losing the essence, which results in a special strength.

Although they may seem small actions, the March 8 event leaves its legacy. “Every time a woman is in command of her history, she is changing something, even in a small corner of the world. That is what I want this dinner to reflect: that together we are stronger, that our voices matter and that we still have a lot to tell, ”synthesizes the chef.
