A motorist escaped unscathed on Tuesday evening after she got stuck on the track in Oisterwijk. She had taken the wrong turn and her car ended up on the tracks. The woman couldn’t get her car off. Two bystanders removed the driver from the car. Moments later, an intercity train collided with the car. As far as we know there are no injuries.
The woman came from Johan Lenartzstraat and wanted to go to Haarenseweg in Oisterwijk. Instead of crossing the railway crossing and then turning, she turned to the right at the crossing, causing her to end up on the track.
After the collision with the train, there was debris everywhere around the track. The woman was not injured, but was very shocked.
The train in question had not yet completely left the platform. This allowed train passengers to choose to leave the train at Oisterwijk station. In addition, they could also choose to remain seated, the NS said.
The driver of the train was shocked by the collision. A colleague had to take over the train journey. This meant that passengers had to wait a while. The train started moving again just after half past eight.
Almost three years ago, a similar accident happened at the same location when a Belgian woman also drove onto the tracks. Then we managed to get the car off the track quickly.
