The woman was walking in the park between the football club and the Ringvaart when she was approached by two men. Police say one of the men left when the other asked the woman for money and threatened her. “She did not give this money,” the spokesperson said.

Emphasis on abuse

The man then assaulted the woman. “She was injured, but managed to get away and call for help. She was treated for her injuries.”

Although this could be an attempted robbery, according to the spokesperson, the emphasis is more on the assault that followed.

“When the police arrived at the park, the perpetrator was no longer there.” The police are therefore still looking for the man, who is approximately 1.85 meters tall and between 25 and 30 years old. He was wearing a dark jacket with a hood and a hat.

To give evidence

Police are also looking for witnesses who have more information. “The woman saw a car drive past during the incident. We hope to be able to speak to the driver as he may have seen something.” The police also hope to get in touch with the man who was also in the park and left.
