The accident happened around half past four on the Frans-Vlaanderweg in Poperinge. Two cars collided head-on. The devastation was great.
A 90-year-old woman was at the wheel of one car. She was taken to hospital in critical condition. A French family was in the other car. The driver and three children suffered minor injuries, according to police.
The public prosecutor’s office is investigating how exactly the accident could have happened.
