The Berlin public prosecutor’s office has brought charges against a 45-year-old who is said to have caused the death of a 27-year-old in need of care.

According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, between August 4 and 6, 2022, the accused fed the deceased with large amounts of porridge so quickly that the woman, who suffered from a trisomy 8 impairment, choked on it.

As the public prosecutor announced, the nurse is said to have recognized the shortness of breath, but initially continued to feed the woman. When the 27-year-old finally became unconscious, the accused is said not to have initiated any relief measures.

According to BZ information, the incident occurred in a nursing home in a low-rise building on Schneeglöckchenstrasse, not far from the Landsberger Allee S-Bahn station.

According to senior public prosecutor Sebastian Büchner, the victim was housed in the apartment for a week. Because the 27-year-old was not brought back by her nurse as scheduled on August 4, the woman’s parents drove to the house on August 7, where they found their daughter dead.

The nurse now has to answer to the charge of causing bodily harm resulting in death in court.
