Eintracht Frankfurt fans can look forward to their third winter addition: Sasa Kalajdzic (26) is about to transfer from Wolverhampton Wanderers to SGE. “Wolves” coach Gary O’Neil said after the 1-1 draw in the FA Cup at Brentford FC: “Sasa will be moving to Eintracht Frankfurt on loan in the next few days. Almost everything has already been agreed.”

The deal includes a loan for the duration of the second half of the season. “Sasa, like Fábio Silva, will return next summer and then we will reassess the situation,” said O’Neil. The 2 meter tall center forward will be Eintracht’s third addition in January and the second to come on loan from England. Left-back Nathaniel Brown (20) was signed from 1. FC Nürnberg for 3 million euros and midfielder Donny van de Beek (26) was signed on loan from Manchester United. According to reports, the Dutchman has a purchase option worth between 10 million and 11 million euros plus bonuses.

Kalajdzic will strengthen the SGE’s storm, which has been decimated since the departures of Randal Kolo Muani (25, PSG) and Rafael Borré (28, Werder) on Deadline Day, and will have to do without top scorer Omar Marmoush (24), who plays with Egypt, at the start of the second half of the season competes in the Africa Cup of Nations. Austrian Kalajdzic has a manageable playing experience of 159 Premier League minutes spread over eleven appearances – there wasn’t enough for more under coach O’Neil.

“There is a footballing and a human side to the decision. “I’m disappointed that I haven’t been able to find a way to use him to keep him with us, but I feel like he needs to go at the moment to just play football,” O’Neil said .

Since his 18 million euro transfer from VfB Stuttgart to Wolverhampton in the summer of 2022, Kalajdzic has only made 14 appearances due to injury. “I hope that playing for Frankfurt will help him at this level and with the number of minutes he gets,” explains O’Neil.
