For the first time, Nick Woltemade scored a goal in the Champions League. He succeeded in doing something that no Newcastle professional had ever achieved before.
Nick Woltemade is fully broken in Newcastle United. In the 4-0 victory in the Champions League about Union Saint-Gilloise, the 23-year-old scored the important opening goal for his team. For Woltemade it was already the third competitive goal in the new jersey. Most recently, he had contributed the goal for the “Magpies” at the weekend in the 1-2 defeat against FC Arsenal.
The gate against Saint-Gilloise was now a particularly beautiful one. After 17 minutes, Woltemade steered a team from Sandro Tonali in the mesh – by hoe. But the goal was not only something very special for aesthetic reasons.
With the goal against the Belgians, Woltemade not only hit his Champions League debut. The native of Bremen at the same time managed historical. Woltemade is the first professional of the Newcastle history to contribute a goal for the club both in his first league game and in his first game in the premier class. In mid -September he scored the winning goal against the Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League in his debut. The tall center forward had promoted a flank with his head into the goal.
Woltemade switched from VfB Stuttgart to Newcastle in summer. The Swabians had the loss of the German international. The media reports about the transfer vary, but this is probably at least 75, but possibly even 90 million euros.
