Wolford appoints Nao Takekoshi as creative director

The Austrian clothing retailer Wolford AG has a new creative head. On Tuesday, the company, which belongs to the Chinese fashion group Lanvin Group, announced the appointment of Nao Takekoshi as Artistic Director. The experienced designer had already designed a capsule collection for the legwear specialist in 2021.

Over the course of a career spanning more than thirty years, Takekoshi has held various senior positions on the design teams of well-known fashion brands such as Donna Karan, Jil Sander and Allegri. He has also worked in advisory roles for Ermenegildo Zegna, Burberry and Calvin Klein, among others.

Takekoshi’s appointment marks “an important stage in Wolford’s strategic development,” the company said. These aim to “strengthen and modernize” the label’s “essential and unique” products, while maintaining a “consistent, overarching brand identity.”

Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Silvia Azzali emphasized that the new chief designer brings the right skills to these plans: “His contemporary vision for the brand and his focus on craftsmanship and technology embody a coherent and forward-looking approach to the brand,” she explained in a statement.
