Wolf killed in Pesse after collision

The wolf that was hit near Pesse last Friday has been put to sleep, the police report. The animal was found in critical condition along the highway.

“Around noon we received a report that the animal had been hit,” says a spokesperson. “We found a seriously injured wolf in the ditch near the A28. A veterinarian was then called in to put the animal to sleep.”

At the end of November it also happened at Wapse. A wolf was killed there along the N855. The animal was then taken for research to the Dutch Wildlife Health Center at Utrecht University.

The wolf has been a victim of traffic more often since its arrival in Drenthe. In March, a dead wolf was found on the A28 near Spier. In 2023, a wolf was hit on the N371 near Hoogersmilde.
