Head held high it is not a simple drama: the director has defined it as a “social thriller”. The reason? The plot is based on some of the most dangerous phenomena of the digital age: revenge porn, the non-consensual dissemination of intimate content, digital blackmail. And also the discrimination that too often affects the victims more than the perpetrators. It is a series of denunciation, and at the same time is a tale of the painful journey a woman must face to obtain justice when her privacy is violated.
Virginia Terzi is the charismatic and respected principal of a high school in a lakeside village just outside Rome. Always in step with the times, she is the creator of the project that gives the series its title, “Head held high”. This is a plan against digital addiction of the boys that is about to finally be implemented, when a private tragedy calls everything into question. An intimate video released online without her consent engulfs her in a scandal that would destroy anyone.

The day after the ceremony, the world collapses beneath her feet. A video in which Virginia appears in a car with a man with whom she is having an extramarital affair begins to circulate online and immediately becomes viral. Her son is upset, her husband kicks her out of the house.
Virginia moves in with her sister Cecilia, who works in the police. Obviously investigations begin to understand who released that video. At the same time, Nina, a friend of her son, is the victim of psychological violence by her boyfriend Alex who, as the mayor’s son, believes himself untouchable. Virginia’s situation soon worsens: a journalist reveals the identity of the man filmed in the video. And the school board demands his immediate resignation.
The private consequences of a public scandal
Virginia isn’t just forced to defend her reputation. The scandal has inevitable consequences on family life, while in the village everyone has an opinion and no one reserves the right to hide it. On the contrary. People’s chatter is becoming more and more insistent. And his son Rocco (Francesco Petit), a sensitive teenager, soon pays the consequences.
