With this camper of almost 1 million euros you can (no longer) go on holiday

Now that the summer holidays have really started, the big trip to France, Spain or Italy can begin. Many Dutch people do this with a caravan or motorhome. Some even pay tons for it. For example, specialty store Niesmann-Bischoff in Oss sold one worth almost one million euros last week. A record.

60+, retired and sold a business. Roughly speaking, according to Mark Hiemstra, this is the profile of people who buy a luxury motorhome for thousands of dollars. And as director of the motorhome shop, he should know.

The demand for caravans and motorhomes, also in this price category, has been sky-high for a few years now. “Materials are expensive, the supply is low and the demand is high,” Hiemstra explains the price increases in the industry. Campers that sell for two or three hundred thousand are, according to him, ‘the new normal’. For now anyway.

949,000 euros
There are countless cars on the site of the store in Oss, which could pass for a house and truck in one. The most expensive sale? It dates from last week, Hiemstra laughs. It concerns the Morelo Grand Empire 110GS+. A whole mouth full. Just like the asking price of no less than 949,000 euros. According to Hiemstra, it was sold for about that amount.

He would not say who the wealthy owner is. But that person can go on holiday in luxury, that’s for sure. The camper is equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher and double air conditioning. It has camera mirrors, a 360 degree camera system and a bicycle lift. But perhaps the most special is the internal parking. A what? Yes, an internal parking space. A car the size of a Mini Cooper can enter through the tailgate.

truck driver’s license
Those who want to put down enough money and have patience – the waiting time is often between one and two years – must also be quite agile behind the wheel. Because the colossus is 14,000 kilos, 11 meters long and almost 4 meters high, the driver needs a truck driver’s license.
