– Basic fitness is like a house building: if you make a bad base, it will fail at some point.
Prejudice
Not all the coaches have been too enthusiastic about the Nordic Walking Card table.
– There are national team types who have said that I am not a grandma and that this is not a good fit, says Ormo.
– I answer that you have to try before you can say.
Ormo points out that while Nordic walking looks easy, the species is full of traps. Usually errors are related to the use of rods.
– Most carry rods only with them.
Do Finnish top athletes know how to do it?
– Winter sports enthusiasts, but others have a place to learn.
Do you show them the model performance yourself?
– I’ll show you how to go and check for a few weeks.

– I thought I had to do something now. I called the Ormo.
Ormo was a familiar factor for Leino from HIFK from the last decade.

In the test
Ormo called Leino for testing.
– The tests reported that there was a lack of basic fitness, says Leino.
– Ormo sold Nordic walking in such a way that the whole body is working.
Leino grabbed a tough coach programmed by the coach training in Nordic Walking.
– Sometimes there were quite big blisters in the hands.
According to Ormo, the bladder was due to a lack of rod technology.
– I don’t know if my technology is still the best, Leino says.
– That technology is not the biggest thing, but the right heart rate and the work of the whole body.
Long loops
Robert Leino played the previous five seasons in SHL club Örebro. In the summer, he moved to Kloten, the Swiss Main Series. Tomi Natri / AOP
Leino makes one or two long Nordic walks per week during the basic fitness season.

– Another option would be to jog or pedal by bike, but the whole body is working on the hand.
Leino, 32, feels that rods have brought power to gaming.
– Whenever I have done in Ormo’s style, I liked and made good results. The farther spring goes, the better the prerequisites for a long season until the end.
Laughter?
Is Nordic Walking a Today’s Hockey Summer Route?
Hardly, at least not yet.
“I haven’t been terribly sparkling what I do,” Leino says.
– What I have been training with the teams has never been Nordic walking.
Could a retired Nordic Walking Nordic Walking cause resistance, even laughing in the puck circles?
– At least I’m not terribly interested if someone laughs. That’s where it laughs.
Ville Nieminen: For my own pleasure
Ville Nieminenformer top hockey player and current coach known for his solid physics, speaks enthusiastically about Nordic walking. He has not experienced embarrassing to grab the rods and press to the jog.

Nordic walking has become an important hobby for Nieminen in recent years.
– Let’s take your own pleasure.
Nieminen speaks admiring the recording where Juha Mieto Nordic walks in his peak in the 1970s.
-It’s pretty great when a 190-cent and one hundred-pound Finnish man throws a Nordic walk at a good and good pace, Nieminen says.
– When it comes to whether a Nordic walk is a retiree species … at least it is bitten by that clip. It is quite a long way from dementia skiing.
Nieminen, 48, remembers having tried Nordic walking for the first time in the early 2000s. True, he got to know the sport during his Pelicans years 2018-19 physics coach Tommi Pärmäkoski under.
Nieminen has used the rods later in the basic training of the teams he coached.
– My teams have made rod runs on the hill, he explains.
– We have found a new stairwell substitute. It provides even tougher response to detachment and respiratory system.
