With these 5 artists, Brabant has already entered the Region Song Contest

We are not putting our hands in the fire for Mia and Dion to win the Eurovision Song Contest. But we have every confidence that a Brabander will go home with a trophy this year. The Region Song Contest will be held for the first time this year. We would dare to do it with these artists.

All thirteen regional broadcasters organize this song festival together. Each province may send one participant and South Holland even two (because that province has two regional broadcasters).

The conditions for the selection of the artists are not yet known. “How we choose our Brabant artist, we have not decided yet,” says Arthur Marres on behalf of Omroep Brabant. “The radio editors could do that, but it is also possible that we let the listeners vote.” According to him, the Region Song Contest is mainly intended to stimulate new talent. If this is lacking in our province, we do have a few contenders with enough musical experience.

Snollebollekes
Nondeju! That sounds damn good. Actually, we don’t need to explain this. Everything Snollebollekes touches turns to gold. When Rob Kemps says we go from left to right, not only the Brabos do, but everyone in our country. Whatever number they come up with: if Snollebollekes participates, we know who wins.

Floor Jansen
At the Eurovision Song Contest, special rock or metal acts often end up surprisingly high. And if there is anyone who can blow us away in her genre, it is rocker Floor Jansen. In recent years she has surprised friend and foe with her popular covers that she put in a metal jacket. And we think that Floor will ensure that Brabant distinguishes itself.

Lenny Kuhr
Of course we all know Lenny Kuhr from De Troubadour. The Eindhoven native won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1969. She recently adapted the song for the TV program Even Tot Hier to ‘De Admiraal’ about Louis van Gaall. If there is anyone who deserves to represent Brabant, it is she. And after she was cut from the big Eurovision concert on TV, we are happy to give her a place on the big stage.

John Biggel
“He’s ugly as hell, but he’s got charisma.” We are not saying that, but that is what his manager Adrie van den Berk says. And charisma, that’s what people like, according to him. The plasterer from Liempde is currently extremely popular with his Brabant songs such as ‘Ons Moeder Zeej Nog’. Wouldn’t it be something if he ultimately represented our province?

Gerard van Maasakkers
Gerard van Maasakkers should not be missing from this list, of course. He still sings in the Brabant dialect and can convey the Brabant home feeling like no other. The preference at the Region Song Contest is to sing in the regional language and Gerard probably has an advantage with that. Hee Gaode Mee on November 4, Gerard?

During the Region Song Contest, three juries ultimately determine who wins. A professional jury, a regional jury from each province and the public may vote.
