Tahmina Akefi hands out – intended or not – an ugly sneer to Jacqueline de Vries, the ex-wife of Peter R. de Vries. She subtly points out that the crime journalist was monogamous with her.
Peter R. de Vries never revealed much about his private life, but in Robert Jensen’s program he once said candidly that he had an open relationship with his wife Jacqueline de Vries. “I can recommend it to everyone,” he said there. “I’ve had a girlfriend for years, the same girlfriend.”
Monogamous
Now Tahmina points out in conversation with her own broadcaster RTV Rijnmond that Peter did want to be monogamous with her. “I gave up my wish to have children for him, that is quite something. And he has become monogamous because of me, while before he always had open relationships.”
Tahmina argues that this is something people can learn from their relationship. “That when love is intense, you can overcome all obstacles together. And, despite struggles and quarrels, you can always find each other again.”
Unkind
A very unkind comment, says Evert Santegoeds. He responds in the podcast Strictly Private: “Those are statements that must of course hurt another woman a lot. The reaction of the De Vries family to the book is also clear, because it has still not been forthcoming.”
Evert continues to question Tahmina’s relationship with Peter, even now that her book about their love has been published. “What strikes me is that in the chapters he has written, her name does not appear at all. That is grist to the mill for people who doubt her great love for her.”
Battle over RTL
By the way, has Tahmina had any discussions with Peter about anything else? “We also had a fight about his work. That was about his performances at RTL Boulevard at the weekend. At one point I felt that this was at the expense of our private lives. We also ended up there.”
Kees van der Spek, Peter’s former right-hand man, doubts whether Tahmina was not just a mistress. She says about this: “Peter never introduced me to Kees van der Spek in the six years that we were together. Because they never saw each other. Kees and Peter only had contact via the app.”
“So that he didn’t see me is true. But he didn’t see Peter either.”
