Casting mood before the kick -off and even more at the final whistle: Bayern Munich celebrates the championship at home with a safe victory against Mönchengladbach and says goodbye to Thomas Müller.

The 2-0 (1: 0) success on the 33rd matchday of the Bundesliga against Borussia Mönchengladbach through the goals of Harry Kane (31st) and Michael Olise (89.) was actually only a beautiful marginal note. The Munich arena was all about celebrating. Even before the kick -off, Thomas Müller received Ovations in his last home game for FC Bayern Munich after 25 years in the club and a large -format photo with all his trophies won. After the game, the 35 -year -old then received the master shell – for the 13th time for himself. For FC Bayern it is the 34th German championship.

Harry Kane meets cunning

In between there were 90 minutes of football in which both clubs didn’t hurt. For the Gladbacher (9th place), which had already been victorious in five games, there was no more concern about anything in the table as for Munich. After all, there was a remarkable hit. Michael Olise pulled inwards on the right edge of the penalty area, Kane wiped his head into his colleague’s shot and marked the lead with his 25th goal of the season.

Gladbach also had a good opportunity due to a header from Tim Kleindienst (44th), but otherwise the guests hardly bothered the red and white celebrations.

Big farewell to Thomas Müller

So it went on after the break. Müller still had the great chance to say goodbye to a goal, but Borussia goalkeeper Jonas Omlin (56.) parried his shot from five meters. Gladbach also reported: Rocco Reitz (60th) steered a corner with the hoe from a short distance to the goal, but returnee Manuel Neuer steered the ball around the post.

The climax in half-time two was then predictable and planned: in the 83rd minute and after 10.5 kilometers daily mileage, Müller left the lawn for the last time in Munich. 6,112 days and 750 competitive games after his debut in August 2008 against Hamburger SV said the Munich veteran “Servus”. Through a trellis by teammates and staff and under standing ovations with loud “Müller” calls, he went off the field with his well-known broad grin and took a seat on the bench. From there he was allowed to celebrate the 2-0 by Olise shortly before the end.

And after the final whistle, the former “German German” then got his big stage. With a speech, Müller said goodbye to the fans. Then there was the big round of honor with the shell and later a big celebration with family, teammates, friends and companions in the evening.

Munich at the end in Hoffenheim, Gladbach against Wolfsburg

Müller could add a Bundesliga game to his football résumé: FC Bayern competes at 1899 Hoffenheim on the last match day. At the same time, Gladbach has to go against VfL Wolfsburg at home (all games in parallel on May 17, 2025 from 3:30 p.m. as an audio stream and ticker in the Sportschau-Livecenter).
