If the weather gods are the lovers of Winters a bit favorable again, it will snow this week. Possibly the snow will even stay on later this week, but first we have to bite. “What this weatherman knows for sure is that tonight the weather will be annoying tonight,” says RTV Drenthe weatherman Hans Nienhuis firmly.
Tonight and tonight it will rain first. During the night the rain turns into wet snow. “So it could be white temporarily. But it is from that mushy, smooth, white stuff.”
For a long time the snow does not lie, but bridges and viaducts can be treacherous. “It is of the snow that you think in the car: is it slippery or not? Look out, because that can just be the case.” The KNMI has therefore also announced code yellow between 3:00 am and 9:00 am.
The snow is done around noon, but it will continue to blow hard. According to Nienhuis, there is a fairly powerful east wind and it only becomes a bit quieter in the second half of the afternoon. “But the precipitation will come back.”
Is it completely done with the snow for this week? Probably not. “In the night to Wednesday and also Wednesday during the day there are periods with precipitation, which increasingly seem to take on the form of snow,” Nienhuis expects. “If it starts to snow on Wednesday, there is a chance that the snow will remain.”
Possibly the snow will stay even after Wednesday. “Because after that it gets cold and clear. During the day, 1 to 2 degrees, but at night -2 and -3. Even -4 until the weekend even in the nights.” For lovers of the sun there is also good news: it gradually returns this week.
Finally, Nienhuis looks into his glass ball for a while whether we will keep it again in the longer term. “Towards the weekend and then for the time being. But about the days after Tuesday I don’t dare say anything.”
