Denise feels pushed aside, both by Mike and his mother Monique, she tells RTL Boulevard. “At a certain point you can no longer hide your heartbreak, it hurts so much.”
She was eagerly looking forward to the recordings. “Yes, we are going for it with the family! Opening a bar in Spain. I could shout it from the rooftops. And especially with Mike; then I can finally see him 24/7.”
But although Denise and ex-mother-in-law Monique (who jokingly calls herself ‘Mama Mo’) are in Winter full of love still seemed like two hands on one stomach, there was little left of that during the recording of the reality soap.
‘What should I do?’
Denise was not left behind in a conversation in the kitchen in particular, in which Monique mockingly imitated her. “Your mother-in-law got it from you…” she responded sarcastically.
“To be honest, I found that fragment in the kitchen difficult to watch again,” she says now. “I was really thinking: help, what should I do? How should I react? I remained calm, but it felt like she was pressing her finger on a sore spot. I don’t like it when you bash each other. That’s not part of life.”
The break with Mike is also still very sensitive, she continues. “I can’t put on a mask. I’m just a sensitive person and I’m heartbroken, and that’s okay. I still have a lot of trouble with it.”
Play
The fact that some people say it’s all ‘a play’ also strikes a chord. “Then I think: I have given up my house, my job, I have left the Netherlands for love. And you don’t just do that. It hurts when you are told that very often.”
Winter full of love participants Mike and Denise finally separated: ‘I can no longer keep this to myself’
In Winter full of love Mike decided to do business with the Frisian Antine, but in the end he ended up with Denise. After months of speculation, Denise confirmed on Tuesday that she and Mike have split.
