The German Christian Democrats of CDU/CSU received 28.6 percent of the votes in the German parliamentary elections on Sunday. The right-wing Department AfD amounted to 20.8 percent, a doubling of the number of votes. The Social Democratic SPD of Chancellor Olaf Scholz finished third with 16.4 percent of the votes, the worst result ever in Bundestag.
