Helenaveen in Brabant, in particular, has been covered in smoke since the major fire in Mariapeel broke out last Wednesday. Some residents of Soemeersingel and Koolweg in the Brabant village were even advised to leave their homes. As far as Brabant the smoke could be smelled from the Peel, as far as Breda and further west. On Sunday, that nuisance for Brabant seems to be over due to the turning of the wind.
