Jasper Deijsselberg from Mariahout does not need to go to the hairdresser for the time being. The team manager of Team Rebellion & Spierings promised on Wednesday morning to shave his head if Paul Spierings won another stage in the Dakar Rally. The driver from Sint-Michielsgestel took the win and was then given the honor of having fun with the clippers. “If I stop being a driver, I can always become a hairdresser.”

Deijsselberg made his promise on Monday morning before the eighth stage. Spierings came third that day and so he was spared a haircut. He agreed again on Wednesday after being challenged by Omroep Brabant reporter Ronald Sträter. “I’m quite easy to challenge, so I couldn’t say no.”

Spierings rode to victory in the final phase of the tenth stage and so Deijsselberg had to believe it. Spierings himself saw the fun in it. To the amusement of his colleagues, such as mechanic Joost Uijtdehaag from Zegge. “Jasper is a big vain, now he can be nice and shiny bald.”

With Spierings as a hairdresser, the team manager could mainly laugh about his bald head afterwards. “I really don’t care, my hair will grow back naturally. I am especially happy with the two victories in a row.”

Look at Da Karretje

Omroep Brabant is also closely following the Brabant participants in this Dakar Rally. Until January 18 there is Da Karretje every day with the experiences of reporters Nynke Cuperus, Ronald Sträter and Leon Voskamp on the website, TV and below via YouTube.
