Willem II fires trainer Hofland after lost derby

Willem II has immediately said goodbye to trainer Kevin Hofland. A day after the 2-1 home defeat in the derby against NAC Breda, the club management lost confidence in the coach.

“We had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye,” said Teun Jacobs, technical director of Willem II. “Hofland has put his heart and soul into the club and he cannot be blamed for his way of working. However, the sporting achievements have been disappointing to date and our goal of returning directly to the Eredivisie has fallen out of sight for the time being.”

The defeat against NAC Breda on Sunday led to dissatisfaction among some of Willem II’s supporters. The criticism focused in particular on Hofland. Willem II occupies eighth place in the Kitchen Champion Division with 24 points from seventeen matches.
