King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima go on holiday for a long time, says Gijs Staverman. Is it really eight weeks? “No, they will probably come back a few times.”
The long vacation of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima-they are going to their villa on the Greek island of Peloponnos for eight weeks-causes surprise to the desk at Shownieuws. “What are they going to do every week?!”, Radio maker Gijs Staverman wonders. Royalty fan Sandra Schuurhof: “Well, at least Zés weeks.”
Eight weeks
For eight weeks are planned, but according to Sandra they are not all filled with free time. “There are now almost eight weeks free in their agenda. That will still be a bit full at the end, because we know anyway that the King should come back for a moment. Then the national commemoration of the capitulation of Japan is.”
The king is there once every five years. “And that is now in The Hague. And at the end of August, of course, Sail Amsterdam, where the 750th anniversary of the city is celebrated. There he will certainly be there with the family, as boats lovers.”
Spare time
In general, Willem and Máxima will have a relaxed holiday, Sandra thinks. “They also have a lot of free time there, isn’t it? The cabinet has fallen, it seems calm, because it can no longer fall, but if something is wrong … he has to stay standby and also sign laws. He can do that via the iPad.”
By the way, she notices: “If the women are kicking at the European Championship, they may also return. There was a lot of criticism last year when they were not there. Now Máxima has already been with Ariane. Suppose they are in the final, then someone has to come back.”
Just into the city
Show expert Bart Ettekoven, by the way, does not agree with his colleague Gijs that eight weeks is very long. “Well, I would know if I had such a boat at the door and had such a house!”
Gijs: “Yes, but they can’t just go into the city …”
Sandra: “Oh yes, they all do that. And don’t forget, hey, the Peloponnesos peninsula, there are a lot of rich people, a lot of friends. Then they take the boat and go to other friends. They usually do other things. The mother -in -law come: Beatrix and Maria del Carmen.”
Lots of friends
They also make many friends come over, Sandra knows. “Like Theo and Mariska Dietz. They also have a house in southern Spain. Often there is also some cross-pollination that they go there for a while. The world is at their feet, they can do everything.”
“Previously they always started making one very nice big trip, also with the children, for example to Botswana, but I don’t know if it is planned this year, because the girls really have their own planning now.”
