At the Carsch House in Düsseldorf, construction work is continuing at the KaDeWe Group’s new location and now there even seems to be a timeframe for the opening.

After a construction stop of around two years, work on the construction site at Heinrich-Heine-Platz is said to have resumed last week with the aim of the new luxury department store opening in September 2027, reports the local newspaper Rheinische Post.

After the groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation of the Carsch House and the redesign of Heinrich-Heine-Platz took place in March 2023, the work came to a standstill a few months later. The reason for this was a lack of payments from the then co-owner Signa Group before it filed for bankruptcy. The problems at the Austrian real estate and trading company had consequences for several properties and retailers in which the group was involved.

The KaDeWe Group was also affected, so that it also slipped into insolvency. In the middle of last year, the Thai Central Group, which already held 50.1 percent of the Berlin luxury department store operator, took over the entire business operations with the three locations KadeWe in Berlin, Oberpollinger in Munich and Alsterhaus in Hamburg.

The KaDeWe Group has not yet responded to a request from FashionUnited.
