Will Smith publicly apologizes to Chris Rock

Will Smith posted a statement on Instagram deploring the incident at the Oscar gala.

Actor Will Smith has publicly apologized From Chris Rock his hits at the Oscars. Smith marched live to the stage and hit the face of the gala Rock after he joked about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith baldness. Pinkett Smith suffers from alopecia, a disease that causes hair loss.

Smith posted his apology on Instagram.

– I’d like to apologize publicly, Chris. I acted irresponsibly and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions did not reflect the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in the world of love and kindness.

The Oscar-winning U.S. Film Academy previously announced it would launch a formal investigation into the events of the gala.

– Violence in all its forms is toxic and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Oscar gala was unacceptable and unforgivable, Smith writes.

– Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but the joke about Jada’s illness was too much for me and I reacted emotionally.

Smith also extended his apologies to the Film Academy and the Williams family. Smith was awarded the Best Actor Oscar for his role in the film at the gala King Richard: The story of the Williamswhich tells the story of tennis superstars Serena and Venus Williamsin from the father Richardista.

– I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the event, all the participants and all the spectators around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams family and my King Richard family. I deeply regret that my behavior has tainted what has otherwise been a wonderful journey for all of us.
