The eight finalists for the LVMH Prize 2022 were selected during the luxury group’s semi-final event, which took place from March 4th to 9th.
20 designers from the 1,900 original nominees presented women’s, men’s and gender-neutral collections to audiences and award experts in a showroom and on the foundation’s digital platform, eight of which were selected for the final round.
The LVMH Prize Jury will select the winner(s) of the LVMH Prize and the Karl Lagerfeld Prize at an event hosted by the Louis Vuitton Foundation.
The eight finalists are Ashlyn from South Korea, Knwls and SS Daley from the UK, Erl and Winnie New York from the USA, Roisin Pierce from Ireland, Ryunosukeokazaki from Japan and Tokyo James from Nigeria.

“The semifinals, which took place both in a showroom and online, allowed us to discover the work of the selected designers,” said Delphine Arnault, Executive Vice President of Louis Vuitton, in a statement.
“I want to recognize your talent and enthusiasm and congratulate you all. I particularly enjoyed speaking to each and every one of you and was struck by your inventiveness, your way of celebrating know-how and craftsmanship, and your approach to environmental issues,” Arnault said in praise of the participating designers .
2022 was the second year that the public could also vote to decide who they think should make it to the finals. According to Arnault, more than 62,000 people were asked to vote for their favorite candidate.
The winner of the LVMH Prize receives 300,000 euros and a year’s support from a dedicated LVMH team. The Karl Lagerfeld Prize is endowed with 150,000 euros and there is the possibility of mentoring.
Finally, the prize honors three students who will graduate from a fashion school in 2022. They each receive 10,000 euros and are admitted to the design studio of one of the houses in the LVMH Group for one year.
