Will Pharrell Williams Be the New Creative Director at Louis Vuitton?

Louis Vuitton is said to have finally found the successor to the late fashion designer Virgil Abloh. According to media reports, musician Pharrell Williams is to take up the post of creative director of menswear.

The French luxury fashion brand is in talks with singer, music producer and designer Pharrell Williams, the Wall Street Journal reports on Tuesday. The US publication refers to people familiar with the matter. Accordingly, Williams, who is considered a confidante and companion of the late designer Virgil Abloh, should follow in his footsteps. The French newspaper Le Figaro also reported on the possible personnel.

Williams would be Louis Vuitton’s first menswear creative director since Abloh’s death in December 2021. Officially, Abloh held the title of “artistic director” of menswear, but it remains to be seen whether Williams will take on the role soon. A spokesman for Williams did not respond to a request from The Wall Street Journal and LVMH declined to comment, the report said. Louis Vuitton has not yet responded to a request from FashionUnited.

In January, the fashion house took a first step to initiate Abloh’s successor, bringing on board a new designer in KidSuper founder Colm Dillane. However, this should only support the in-house design team for one season. Now it seems like Louis Vuitton may have found a permanent solution with Pharrell Williams.
