For the young people it is both technically challenging and a great honor. “Every time I come to Ostend I see it, and I never thought I would be able to help work on it. Actually, that was a dream,” says one student.
Interest in the project is also growing internationally. The Burmeister & Wain Museum in Denmark is closely following the restoration. “They want to come and have a look, and we hope that they can see the only Burmeister & Wain engine running in its original setting,” said a student.
The team is working on the engine with great enthusiasm. “We have a great team working on this all day long. Everyone from our school is helping, and hopefully we can get it done by 2026,” he said with determination.
