Will & Grace: Debra Messing asked for bigger breasts

Nonot alone Sex And The City. Twenty-five years ago it also began Will & Gracewhich aired on NBC for 8 seasons and then three more after an 11-year hiatus. New York, set of the story of Will, a gay lawyer, and his friend Grace, an interior designeris celebrating in advance (there series debuted on September 21, 1998) with an exhibition and several meetings with cast and media experts organized by Paley Center (until July 9).

Obviously, much of what is expected from such an event (today we say immersive) is the emergence of gossip and revelations. One of many who came out of the panel The Magic of Will & Grace, concerned Debra Messing (54) and some chicken cutlets.

That is what the actress should have tucked into the bosomjudged too small. «What can I say – said Debra -, I hated the idea instantly». When he refused, the production said that it wasn’t the director or the producer who wanted it, but the president of the network, an entity like Fantozzi’s Galactic Megadirector.

Will & Grace: Debra Messing and the “chicken breast”

“If it’s the President who wants me to put chicken in my bra – continued the actress – then the President has to come to the set and say it to my face.” Nothing came of it, but that didn’t stop him for 11 seasons Grace Adler’s flat bosom was pouted all the timeas well as manually fixed by Karen (Megan Mullally) so that her friend had a chance with men.

A gag that eventually took up an entire episode that aired in 1999, Das Boob. Favorite episode of Debra Messing in which Grace receives an invitation to date from John Gregorio, an old high school crush who saw her published in the newspaper. Will and Karen explain that in reality the guy is definitely only interested in her breasts; the photo has in fact enlarged it thanks to a strange optical effect. So what to do to be worthy?

Karen fixes it with a water bra, which Grace wears with great pride at the opening of the exhibition of her former school friend who has become an artist in the meantime. Only because of Karen’s brooch, in which her friend gets entangled at one point, this begins to leak, spraying jets on patrons and artwork.

Will tries to dab as much as he can, creating more of a hilarious situation. Then when Jim realizes the deception he accuses Grace of being only superficial: but he hasn’t seen Karen’s breasts, on which he nails himself as he goes out.

Another revival?

At the panel Debra Messing also spoke about the fortunes and impact of Will & Grace, one of the first gay-themed series but also the first that corrected an ending hated by fans and actors with a revival that narrated the characters at an age in which no producer dreams of investing today (except for the four – minus one but no more – of Sex And The City). “We thought the show would be canceled within the first two seasons. Then by the third we knew we were meant to stay. There was a lot of love for us, above all because we represented people who had never been there on TV, in the evening and as protagonists.

Do you see any chance of another revival? No. “The only way I could see Will, Grace, Karen and Jack interact again would be in the manner of Golden Girls (in Italian Ageless hearts on Disney+, ed), in Boca Raton. So I think we will have to wait another 30 years. Until then, watch the reruns.”
