Wild chase after machine blast – two police officers injured

After a wild chase, the police in Brandenburg arrested two alleged perpetrators who are said to have previously blown up a machine in the train station in Bad Wilsnack (Prignitz).

Two federal police officers were slightly injured during the pursuit early on Saturday morning, the North Police Department reported on Monday.

A witness noticed the explosion at the train station on Saturday morning and saw two perpetrators flee, the police reported. The alarmed officials found that the machine was blown up with pyrotechnics and a large amount of cash was stolen from one of the cassettes.

A little later, officials found the getaway car near Glöwen, the police reported. The driver then fled in the direction of Havelberg (Saxony-Anhalt).

Police also used a helicopter in pursuit. According to the police, the alleged perpetrators threw pyrotechnics at the following radio patrol car.

At Plänitz (Ostprignitz-Ruppin), the getaway car collided with an oncoming Federal Police car and then crashed into a police radio patrol car, which the officers had already left. The two federal police officers had to be treated as outpatients in the hospital.

The suspects, aged 22 and 23, initially fled on foot, but were then arrested by police officers, the police reported. They were taken into custody.

In the getaway car, the officers secured pyrotechnics and the stolen cash. According to the information, the two men are now under investigation for attempted murder, grand theft, causing an explosive explosion and dangerous interference in road traffic.
