Wiagro: The company that revolutionizes the agricultural market with its grain and food digitization platform.

Wiagro was born in 2016, as the final project of the Telecommunications Engineering degree of two entrepreneurs, Martin Cordasco (CTO) and Ulises Mickelsen (CIO) with the aim of reducing food loss and waste worldwide. More than 1/3 of food production is lost during the postharvest process. These data are the result of studies carried out by the FAO and the UN where they issue the sustainable development goals (SDG). This problem generates losses of 1 billion dollars annually and also has a huge environmental and social impact. It is the amount of food needed to feed 2 billion people (population increase by 2050).

In 2018 Santiago Badran (Business Advisor) and Ariel Ismirlian (CEO) joined the team and after having started, and having been awarded in various contests such as the Argentine College of Engineers, Incubate, Santander X, we decided to found it as a startup to develop the digitalization market for grains and all types of food through the use of IoT devices, Blockchain, establishing a worldwide standard for their traceability and care.

We developed a unique and differential technology in the market that is currently being marketed in several countries around the world, allowing the producer to connect grains and food stored in any storage medium (silo bags, cell silos, aerial silos) via satellite, giving them the possibility of controlling them. from the palm of your hand and make conservation decisions and be able to access other services associated with them. For example, financing with the backing of grains as collateral, insurance at a lower cost to mitigate the risk of damage, logistics, etc.

Since 2022 we have had the support of the venture capitals Kamay Ventures (made up of Grupo Arcor and Coca Cola), Grupo Murchison and Puerto Asís, integrated into a seed round that allowed the formation of a multidisciplinary work team, made up of engineers, agronomists, computer scientists and specialists in materials, to improve and continue with our technological developments.

At the same time, we established our offices at the Argentine Nanotechnology Foundation, with which we have a joint work agreement for the development of sensors based on nano inks that will allow us to integrate solutions on a large scale. Comment Martin Cordasco.

Our strategy for the next 2 years is to increase the number of digitized and monitored tons with our solutions focused on Argentina, Brazil and the rest of Latin America with the aim that producers can make their postharvest processes more efficient, apply to sustainability policies and associated services in an agile and fast way.” Comments Ariel Ismirlian CEO and Co-founder of WIAGRO.
