Why the Obelisk will light up yellow

February 15 is the International Day to Fight Childhood Cancer. And for the first time, the Obelisk will light up yellow to make visible this disease that hundreds of boys, girls and adolescents around the world have gone through and go through every day. Creating Lighta non-profit foundation that works mainly in the area of ​​pediatric oncology of the Elizalde Hospital (former Casa Cuna) bringing moments of play, recreation, celebration and dreams to children who fight against this disease, calls for active participation in the event it is organizing this year at 8 p.m. in the traditional Buenos Aires monument.

“Every February 15 is a new opportunity to make visible, raise awareness and provide information about childhood cancer and this one is special,” explained María Belén Di Gregorio, Creator and Director of the foundation. “We are inviting all people, residents of the city and surrounding areas, media and journalists to witness how the night lights up yellow with the aim of embracing all the families who are going through this exhausting daily struggle and those whose children are “They have transformed into luminous stars,” he added.

From 8 p.m. onwards volunteer team will be at the Obelisk receiving families, doctors and all people who want to witness the event. They will share information about the importance of the date, handing out the yellow ribbon emblem of this cause. The Stand of Playful Wigs that are given to boys and girls who are undergoing treatment will be present, telling about their making.

Creating Light, a non-profit foundation, is dedicated to creating dreams, putting together teams to make magic happen. They work together with different institutions, mainly with the Elizalde Hospital and the Garrahan Hospital, where they develop the program Playful Wigs; activities to accompany the hospitalization time; a series of annual events, from Children’s Day, through Halloween, Christmas and Epiphany, among others; and the Dream Experience in conjunction with the palliative area, in end-of-life situations, designing that last dream to transform the end.
