‘Why isn’t Tim Hofman at Matthijs van Nieuwkerk’s hut?’

The misconduct of Matthijs van Nieuwkerk reflects on his entire broadcaster BNNVARA. Colleague Tim Hofman is now also getting the wind from the front: he is being slammed by a reader of the VARA guide.

Tim Hofman, the man who brought the whole Voice scandal to light, is seriously embarrassed by the cesspool that has opened up at his own BNNVARA. According to Astrid Joosten, he feels quite embarrassed now that he works at a club where serious abuse has been ignored for years.

Sneak at Tim

Although Tim immediately spoke out after the revelations about Matthijs (‘the management must ensure that this NEVER happens again, and they have also impressed upon me and the BOOS editors that they agree with this’), there is still suspicion. For example, Bram Moszkowicz openly doubted Tim’s integrity.

The VARA guide now comes over that. In the letters section of Özcan Akyol a big sneer has been placed at Tim’s address. This comes from a reader, namely Mr. Kees van Lieshout from Boxtel in Brabant.

“Where is he now?”

Mr. Kees wonders why Tim runs after everyone for his program BOOS, but hardly pays any attention to Matthijs.

He writes: “Where are the tapes of Tim Hofman, the conscience of the Netherlands? The images in which he demands immediate access to Mathijs van Nieuwkerk’s abode. Screaming, calling the monster hidden behind the couch to account. How Mr. Tim collected hours and hours of evidence. That Tim. Where has he gone?”

‘Who gets the rod’

Then Kees also expresses a few suspicions against Tim. “Or are there also leaked allegations regarding Mr. Tim Hofman? Expectantly my heart beats. Who gets the rod who gets the gard?”

Özcan, one of Matthijs’ best friends, reacts with surprise to this letter. “To be honest, you don’t exactly seem relaxed, if I may put it that way. On what basis do you think that Tim Hofman also misbehaved?”

lynching celebrities

Maybe people should calm down a bit, says Özcan. “There is already enough misery in the media world, because of a few prominent people. Maybe the rest can behave normally.”

The presenter, against whom also appears to be a complaint, concludes: “I get so many hateful letters these days. It’s as if people want to lynch celebrities from now on. I don’t know if that’s much healthier than presenters who can’t handle pressure and therefore display undesirable behavior.”
