Why are the baseball players of HCAW now able to qualify for the Holland Series?

For the first time since 2005, the baseball players of HCAW are in the Holland Series. Last year the Bussumers just didn’t succeed and stranded in the play-offs. Why did it work this year?

Danny Rombley

Since this season, Danny Rombley is the head coach of BaseballClub Allen Weerbaar (HCAW). The former Orange player is modest himself, but his players give the praises. “Rombley has done a fantastic job as a coach. He keeps us sharp and creates a good atmosphere in the dug-out,” says player Victor Draijer.

“He feels us and the game very well. He knows when to make substitutions. He’s just a good coach,” adds pitcher Lars Huijer.

strong pitching

Another reason for the success is the strong pitching staff. With Lars Huijer, Jim Ploeger and Dennis Burgersdijk, among others, the Bussumers have some very strong pitchers. “They are so important. That is really the basis on which we win our matches,” says Draijer.

Last year, HCAW was eliminated in the play-offs by the Amsterdam Pirates. So this season the roles are reversed. “You are only as good as your worst player. The depth of our selection is better than last year. We also have the experience of last year when we didn’t make it. We have an extra piece of experience and you can see that now.” , says Huyer.

NH Sport was present on Saturday and made the above report.
