Who wants a wind chime on their property? Municipality of Texel calls

Who wants a windwokkel at their company? The municipality of Texel is making this call because it wants to start a wind turbine pilot early next year. The intention is to install wind turbines in a number of places on Texel and in this way test what energy they yield.

The municipality is therefore looking for owners of business locations on the island who want to make their land available for this pilot. We are also looking for manufacturers of wind turbines who want to make a model available for testing.

Depending on the model, a wind turbine can theoretically generate several thousand kWH per year. They are much smaller than a windmill and easier to fit into the spatial image, according to the municipality. “In combination with solar panels, it ensures a more constant generation of electricity.”

Trial

The trial will start next year and will last two to three years. The aim of this pilot is to get a picture of the generation performance under Texel conditions, such as sun, salt and strong wind. We also look at wear, noise and vibrations.

We look at companies inside or outside the built-up area that want to participate. The generated power that is released during this test is for the owner of the company and is fed back behind the meter.
