It’s possible again: submit your favorite songs for the Drenthe 1000. The reporters from RTV Drenthe made a tour through the province today, looking for the preferences of Drenthe’s music lovers.
In Rolde, the board of the local ice skating association met early this morning to prepare the ice rink for winter. Of course, those present all want to complete a list for the Drenthe 1000. There is one song that, according to the ice skating association, must be included; that is The Village Where I Was Born by Dennis Hendriks.
“That song symbolizes Rolde. He lived here for a long time and the clip was largely recorded in Rolde,” says treasurer Jacco Fluks of the ice skating association. “I have been in contact with Dennis and we were both born in the Wilhelmina Hospital Assen. So we cannot say that we were born in Rolde, but we were raised here.”
Secretary Ko Pots appears to have already cast his vote yesterday. He has only chosen Drenthe numbers. “I’m a real one Drentophile and me I went for some older and newer Drenthe-language songs. What I have always been very proud of is that Harry Muskee lived here. I have therefore included two of his songs in my list.”
The Drentse 1000 is also a frequent topic of discussion at Paviljoen Nijstad in Hoogeveen. A large group of employees has now voted. According to manager Maureen Dekker-Logtenberg, this is allowed The last round by André Hazes are not missing from the list. “That song is part of the business. Let’s have one last drink.”
But do the rest of the restaurant staff also think so? “I don’t think they agree with it,” laughs Dekker-Logtenberg. “Everyone has their own favorite song. Sometimes I hear songs that I don’t know at all and vice versa. But that’s how it works.”
A tour of the staff yields several suggestions for the Drenthe 1000. “I go for Jannes with Adio Amore. Of course I vote for an artist from Drenthe,” says a colleague. But that does not apply to another staff member: “I go for English, Adele for example.”
At the Jan Kruis Museum in Orvelte, a familiar song is the favorite: I’m getting out of here by Daniel Lohues. That number topped the list in the first two editions of the Drenthe 1000. “That song is always good,” says Leontine Kruis, Jan Kruis’s daughter. “I fully support that.”
