In 2011, De Volendammer made his debut in professional football for Volendam and left the fishing village for AZ in 2014. After wanderings via Zulte Waregem, Sparta Rotterdam, NAC Breda and SC Cambuur, Mühren returned in 2021. He played 237 duels, in which he scored 113 goals and gave 40 assists.
