White leaves England’s World Cup team – Most valuable centre-back in squad

For personal reasons

England national team and coach Gareth Southgate will be without central defender Ben White at the World Cup. The 25-year-old left for personal reasons, as the association announced. Further details about the departure or the reasons were not given in view of the professional’s privacy. White is not expected to return to the Three Lions during the World Cup after Qatar.

The Arsenal professional, the most valuable central defender in England’s World Cup squad with a market value of 45 million euros, was recently absent from training due to illness and did not play a major role in Southgate’s narrower personnel planning. The ex-professional relies on Harry Maguire and John Stones in the defensive center of a 4-2-3-1 system.
