Texel is in 4th place and is therefore the municipality with the best reputation in Noord-Holland. In the investigation, the respondents were asked per municipality about the awareness, appreciation, involvement, visitor intention, growth potential and reputation.
“The island is popular in all sorts of areas,” says Hendrik Beerda, who has set up cities & regions of brand research together with the University of Amsterdam and Utrecht University.
“People think it’s a nice island to recreate. The atmosphere is good and it is fine with the hospitality industry. And Texel is much positive in the news, as the respondents experience it anyway. It is the beautiful green island where you can spend a nice holiday.”
Amsterdam no longer the most appreciated municipality
Amsterdam was the municipality for years with the best reputation in the Netherlands. But that is no longer the case since this year: the capital of the Netherlands has been thrown off the throne by the capital of Limburg. Maastricht is the most appreciated by the Dutch, especially by the sympathetic, gentle appearance.
We now find the capital in place 6. According to Beerda, that mainly has to do with how unsympathetic people find Amsterdam. “The moment you are in the lead, then you should not emphasize that too much. And Amsterdam and the Amsterdammers do not do that wisely. The capital is therefore in 155th place in terms of sympathy.”
