Lindy Ruff has not convinced Buffalo at the helm.

Although Buffalo is currently on a three-game winning streak, the team is still in last place in the NHL’s Eastern Conference. In the big picture, the team is not exactly a sparkling head coach Lindy Ruffin under, because even last season it was ranked 14/16.
The 65-year-old legendary coach was hired by the club in April 2024. The departure passes may come already this season, if and when the new GM Jarmo Kekäläinen at some point wants “his own man” to be the head coach, so to speak.
In front of the media, however, the Finn did not throw Ruff under the bus, even though almost everyone in the puck world is waiting for news of his dismissal next summer at the latest.
– Lindy’s resume speaks for itself. He has been a great coach in the league for a long time, Kekäläinen reminds In an interview with The Athletic.
Ruff, who has coached in the taala league since the 1990s, has been chosen as the NHL’s best coach, among other things. In addition, the man has won competition medals in the Canadian coaching team ever since the Olympic gold.
In recent years, however, Ruff’s star has waned. He has not kept up with the evolution of the game. However, Kekäläinen praises the man’s character.
– I have really enjoyed working with him. He works hard every day. He comes on time, watches videos and analyzes. He talks to the players and has established a good rapport with them. He is looking for ways to develop, Kekäläinen says.
Although the Finn is known to appreciate hard work, it won’t warm you up forever if an undisciplined team stays in the bottom mud of the series all the time.
Ruff’s countdown is probably already underway.
