“Left the group” soon no longer visible to everyone

On WhatsApp you can be in a group chat with up to 512 people. This is useful when information is important to all members. However, if many messages are sent that do not concern individual users, they are quickly annoyed by the group chat. If a member of a group leaves the shared chat, all others are informed of this by system message.

Now the hurdle of leaving a group chat and possibly alienating the other members should be reduced with a new feature. This is reported by WABetaInfo in an article dated May 17th. If you leave a group in the future, the system message “has left the group” will only be visible to you and all administrators of the group.

When you exit you will be informed who will be notified

The new function is still in the development phase, so far there is no beta version. When the feature will be introduced is not known to the public – but it should definitely come. According to WABetaInfo, when leaving the group, users should no longer just be asked whether they “really want to leave” the group, but rather be specifically informed that only themselves and the administrators will be notified. If this text does not appear in a pop-up window when you exit, you can assume that all members of the group will receive the system message.
