However, co-host Johan Derksen has decided to remain loyal to John de Mol, complicating any potential switch. This business strategy appears to leave Genee with little bargaining power.
Victor Vlam predicts a dark cloud over “Vandaag Inside” as John de Mol appears likely to push for salary reductions in the upcoming contract negotiations. “John de Mol is almost certain to aim for a salary decrease, perhaps even a significant one,” he stated in the podcast Victor Duidt TV.

Vlam highlights the dilemma faced by Genee: “Falling ratings result in decreased advertising income, and thus, John de Mol will argue, ‘I earn less from this program, so I expect your salaries to decrease as well.’ What can Wilfred Genee really respond to that?”

According to Vlam, Genee may find it challenging to counter this argument. “You can’t deny the analysis; it’s hard to break through this wall and claim you want the same or even a higher salary. It seems unlikely, so acceptance of a pay cut may be the only option.”
