What’s changing when it comes to sending and receiving parcels

DHL is currently informing customers via e-mail about an upcoming change to the General Terms and Conditions. The new regulations will come into effect from October for sending and receiving parcels.

With the new terms and conditions, DHL wants to provide customers with extensive information in the future, but also make new services accessible to them. In essence, not much will change in the service of the parcel service, but private customers should still be aware of minor changes.

DHL’s new terms and conditions can be viewed online

As announced by DHL, the changes to the terms and conditions will come into effect on October 1, 2022. The previously applicable regulations as well as the new regulations can customers view online. However, DHL only links the complete list of terms and conditions here, so the changes are not recognizable at a glance. The company only lists the individual points in the e-mail. We have also read through the old and new DHL terms and conditions and filtered out the individual changes.

The changes therefore affect customer information on receiving parcels and explain details on possible refusal of acceptance, parcel storage at another location and shipments from non-EU countries. For example, in an addendum under Section 2 of the General Terms and Conditions, DHL requires users of the Post&DHL app to enter their address if they want to use the services.

Various sections have also been added to the services section in section 4. These include, for example, package notification, digital acceptance refusal and the GoGreen Plus option.

GTC changes of DHL in detail

  • From autumn 2022, we will give you as a DHL customer even more transparency about the sustainable receipt of your shipments with additional information in your customer account. In addition, you can use the GoGreen Plus recipient service for a small surcharge to arrange for the DHL parcels and Warenpost shipments addressed to you to be received in a climate-neutral manner yourself – thanks to additional reduction measures in the DHL logistics network, greenhouse gas emissions are then avoided.
  • Do you ever need to refuse a shipment? With our “Digital Refusal of Acceptance” service, you have the option in advance and online to refuse acceptance of a shipment.
  • Help your DHL deliverer to reliably fulfill your storage request. Please ensure that your storage location is not visible from publicly accessible areas (e.g. streets, public paths), is protected from the weather and is freely accessible to the deliverer.
  • You cannot address shipments from non-EU countries to a packing station or branch. Since they are subject to customs declaration, you must address these shipments to your home address.
