The streaming market is currently developing very dynamically. The corona pandemic has accelerated certain trends. Among other things, the trend clearly points in the direction of series production. Large providers such as Netflix or Sky are increasingly producing their own content in order to exclusively retain customers. Large studios such as Disney or Warner have also sensed their chance and launched their own streaming services with Disney+ and HBO Max.

On the one hand, this results in an oversupply of platforms. On the other hand, all of these streaming services offer more or less exclusive content. In order to always be up to date in the field of films and series, one service or two or three is no longer enough. However, it can be observed on the customer side that more and more users would like a bundled offer.

Another trend is that the providers are trying to position themselves more broadly in terms of content, for example with the transmission of sports events. RTL and thus RTL+ have secured the rights for all Europa League games with German participation. However, with such large rights packages, streaming services are also becoming increasingly expensive. Recently, for example, the prices for Amazon Prime (video) and Netflix rose.
