Tech billionaire Elon Musk gave Jamal Khashoggi a blue Twitter verification badge.
There would be no news about the matter if Khashoggi had not died. Khashoggi, a journalist born in Saudi Arabia but living in the United States, was murdered in 2018.

Today, anyone can get a badge by paying a monthly fee. However, Musk has said that he will pay the fees of some people on Twitter himself.
Musk has said that one of the reasons for the change was that the social giant is trying to fight against bots. However, the change has been criticized, as only a phone number is needed for confirmation.
