Peter Tägtgren made no big deal out of the end of his collaboration with Till Lindemann. In 2020, the Lindemann project announced via social media that the Rammstein singer and namesake would continue the joint project alone in the future. Tägtgren was taciturn, only explaining in a podcast a year later that the last tour together, despite all the commercial success, was “not really my thing”. The exact reasons for the separation remain unclear.

The 53-year-old is undoubtedly sufficiently busy even without his former bandmate Lindemann (who is currently facing allegations of abuse). This is not surprising, since the Swedish musician and composer has been one of the most well-known and important figures on the European metal scene for several decades. In addition to his own music, which we will deal with in a moment, he is also in great demand as a producer. Tägtgren, who runs a studio called The Abyss, has worked with a number of well-known metal bands — including Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Amon Amarth, Children of Bodom, Amorphis, and numerous other groups.

That’s what Peter Tägtgren does today

After leaving Lindemann, Tägtgren devoted himself primarily to his two main projects – the bands Hypocrisy and Pain, which he founded. Hypocrisy, formed in 1991, are one of the most important melodic death metal bands ever. With Pain, Tägtgren goes in a different musical direction, mixing metal with electronic music.

The last Hypocrisy album, “Worship”, was released at the end of 2021. Tägtgren hasn’t released an album with Pain since 2016 – but that doesn’t mean that he’s not still active with this project. On the contrary: Pain are currently on a European tour that will last throughout 2023. Tägtgren is also playing a number of concerts with Hypocrisy this year.
